Baking apple pie with children

In autumn many fruits ripen in our region. The most common type of fruit is the apple. Apples can be processed into delicious meals in the kindergarten.

I recently prepared a simple apple pie (cup pie) with my group (3 to 4 year old children).

Important when baking with children

  • Washing hands together with the children
  • Place the cable from the mixer so that nobody can trip over it.
  • explain the mixer beforehand and leave each child at the mixer once
  • explain the dangers of the oven
  • and of course the children can lick the bowl at the end ;-)

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of flour
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 250 g of margarine
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • 5-6 apples
  • cinnamon and sugar as desired

Preparation

  1. Wash the apples, peel them, cut them into slices and cut out the core (for small children the educator takes over this part beforehand).
  2. Beat the margarine, sugar, vanilla sugar and eggs until fluffy.
  3. Add baking powder and flour little by little.
  4. Add the milk as needed to make a creamy dough.
  5. Spread the dough on a baking tray (or put baking paper on it) and press the peeled apple pieces lightly into the dough.
  6. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar as desired.
  7. Bake at 180°C top/bottom heat (160°C circulating air) until brown.
